Dawei Zhou, PhD, PE

Dawei ZhouDr. Zhou is a Senior Director at E.ON, a global Fortune 15 company, heading the Transmission and Market Department to conduct transmission planning, renewable energy interconnections, smart grid implementations, energy storage application and energy market fundamental analysis, transmission service procurement, competitive power market insights and NERC compliance. He has over 12 years of experience in consulting environment for major North American electric utilities and fortune 500 companies for variety of project in the power system and renewable industry, the highlight of which include:

Dr. Zhou has several projects in Renewable Energy, T&D Planning and Operations, Strategic Planning, Competitive Power Markets, and Generation Interconnection. For a list of selected projects, click here.

Prior to joining E.ON, Dr. Zhou worked for Navigant Consulting for nine years as an Associate Director, managing and leading a team of consultants to advise clients on T&D planning, Nodal Market and LMP Modeling, renewable energy siting and interconnection, smart metering, micro-grid implementation, competitive power market insights, NERC compliance, energy efficiency and sustainability as well as financial and economic analysis.

Dr. Zhou is very active in the renewable as well as conventional energy sectors, and has published and presented the following selected publications and presentations:

Furthermore, Dr. Zhou is a New York State Professional Engineer (PE) and Charted Financial Analyst (CFA) Level II Candidate. In year 2011, he was elected as IEEE Senior Member, which is an industry-wide recognition for technical and professional excellence.

Dr. Zhou obtained his Bachelor Degree in Power and Energy Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, and his Master of Engineering Degree in Power Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, his Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Wisconsin, USA, and his PhD in Nuclear Engineering from University of Illinois, USA.
